Nothing to Report
Well, it’s embarrassing but the whole daunting mass of climate and agricultural research is still weighing me down and I haven’t been able to make any progress. I do still keeping thinking about it though and trying to work out how to ensure that the land can get enough rainfall inland of the mountains in order to grow viable crops to support the population. But I can’t get quality time around life to sit down and try to get my head around it.
Fantasy can be really hard sometimes and I’m having a bit of a guilt trip because of not being able to get on with it …..
Anyway, here are the fantastic folks at ROW80 to cheer us all up
I feel you on climate research; in my case, the troubles have centered on finding out about the effects of radiation on farmland. Oi…
I’m not sure if this is something that would be helpful, but have you looked up dryland farming? I did some Googling and found the term in an article from Scientific American and then also found a Wikipedia article about it.
Scientific American article: http://www.scientificamerican.com/article/dryland-farmers-work-wonders-without-water-us-west/
Dryland Farming @ Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dryland_farming — this article gives a nice overview on the topic and talks about dryland farming in different regions throughout history.
If there’s anything else I can do to help, let me know. And good luck!
Thanks so much Kathy; I had a look at a Wiki article on dryland farming a couple of weeks ago – might have been the one above, I’m not sure – then slunk away, daunted. I will definitely follow up all those articles and discipline myself to read them this time!
The important details sometimes really need that extra special attention, but can cause so much trouble. I wish you the best overcoming this hurdle and moving forward.
Thanks Gloria.
I am not a fan of research. My hubby and I have often talked about collaborating. He loves learning all sorts of useful – and useless – facts. Maybe one day . . .
All the best getting unstuck.
Cheers Steph.
